Myths and facts about LGBTQ
Myths and facts on LGBTQ.
Every one deserves to be happy and live a life they want. But I don't think this statement suits to our society as we all keep saying we are modern but have you ever thought ,
What actually being modern means?
Is it just about wearing branded clothes, looking smart, using more technology.
Or to complete it in a sentence we can say,
"Being modern is all about the way you think,
the way you treat the people around you and the most how effectively you use the technology for the betterment of growth. "
But even after all these decades, most of the people still have many myths related to the LGBTQ people.
So here are the most important 5 myths which everyone needs to know and the most understand.
MYTH 1 : It's okay to call LGBTQ+ persons names like queen, faggots and dyke because they are deviant.
FACT : No, it's absolutely not okay to call them by such names.
They all have their own identity , they don't need you to rename them. They need to be known by what they are without any fuss.
If all this was okay then, blue eyed people and left handed people who are also the minority would be considered deviant.
What do you think?
Is it so?
MYTH 2: LGBTQ + persons are mentally ill .
FACT: This is all rubbish. They are normal just as heterosexual. Their sexual behavior and orientation exist along a continum that ranges from people who they are attracted to same sex, opposite sex or attracted to both.
All are normal except the people who keep this thinking are abnormal.
The biggest example lies in the nature itself. Same-sex pairing is not just normal in the animal kingdom - it's even common. Studies suggest that about 1,500 animal species are known to practice same-sex coupling - from insects, to fish, birds and mammals.
Then why not humans?
Why do we need to judge them on this?
MYTH 3 : Gay men like to dress as women, Gay men wish they were women and lesbians wish they were men.
FACT: Gay men and lesbians for the most part are comfortable with their identities as men and women they have no desire to change their sex.
Even some people say that gay men dress up as women (e. g for drag shows).
but the fact is many men who enjoy dressing up in women's clothes (transvestites) are heterosexual.
MYTH 4: If you have friends who are gay, lesbians, bisexual that must mean you are also into them.
FACT : Liking/ loving to spend time with someone who is gay /lesbian/bisexual does not make you gay or any more than liking someone who is Catholic / Jewish / Buddhist makes you so.
MYTH 5 : Gay men and lesbian women are unfit to be parents.
FACT : Research as shown valuable data that doesn't support negative stereotypes about same sex parents.
Generally the children are not same as their parents. They are capable of doing the same things as the other children without causing any kind of harm to each others identity.
For example, children raised by gay or lesbian parents are not more likely to be gay or lesbian themselves, and not more likely to experience problems in development or in relationships with friends/peers compared to those with heterosexual parents.
And now after reading all these myths,
I have some questions for you, I would love to read your answers on these.
1) Have you ever thought what kinds of things might a person who is lesbian, gay, or bisexual go through when coming out?
2)How can I get others to be more open-minded about LGBTQ+ people?
3)How can I respond to people who object to LGBTQ+ people for religious reasons?
4)How can I respond to homophobic attitudes?
5)How can I respond when someone tells a homophobic joke?

Amazing..keep it up
